In Utah, home care services are divided into two categories: skilled care and personal care. Skilled care is provided by agencies that are generally Medicare certified and provide services for people recovering from illnesses or accidents. This type of care is provided to help people get better. Medicare and private insurance companies pay for these services.
Personal care services are provided to people who need long-term assistance. These services are sometimes called non medical in home care “custodial care.” This means that the services will generally be provided indefinitely by an in home caregiver.
