Specially Trained ALS Caregivers
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), or Lou Gehrig’s Disease, is a progressive disease that leads to muscle weakening. It affects a person’s ability to control voluntary movements of muscles and often impacts the person’s ability to breath.
Our caregivers understand the progressive nature of the disease. They understand the need to help the client maintain independence in as many areas of life as possible.
LTC@Home provides specialized training to ensure that the caregivers can assist with mobility and transfers, including using specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
Most importantly, our caregivers understand the need to preserve their clients’ dignity as abilities are lost through the progression of ALS.
